I am proud to work at The Legal Aid Society, the oldest and largest social justice law organization in the country (almost 150 years old!). While I have been working here for over three years, this will be my first Five Borough bike ride for Legal Aid! But let me tell you- the pain, and 40+ miles, will be worth it if I can raise $1,500 with your help!
I promise you... your donation is a great investment. Every day I see firsthand how Legal Aid touches every aspect of New Yorkers’ lives-from juvenile rights to eviction prevention to criminal justice reform. Poverty should never = a lack of justice or access.
In a typical year, we handle nearly 250,000 legal matters for individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford a lawyer. In addition, we are a leading voice in advocating for legislative and policy reform. Just last year, a Legal Aid class action lawsuit settlement led to 5 million more New Yorkers on Medicaid gaining coverage for life-saving dental procedures!
