Karun Olson's Story
Otters have inspired me to spend the last third of my life being playful, having fun and contributing. Watching otters is fun, but they are vital to the health of the Oregon Coast and its ocean area. Otters are a predator of the purple sea urchins. Since the Sea Otters were eradicated from the Oregon Coast the purple sea urchin population has exploded and now they have decimated the kelp forest along the coast which is impacting the Dungeness crab that feed and live in kelp forest and this impacts all the sea life.
