My name is Melanie Berlin and I’m 27 years old. I’m fighting to support my number one fan and the inspirational person I know, my dad. My Dad’s name is Ron Berlin–He has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for my entire life.

An illness such as MS can often impose limitations beyond our control, restricting many of the daily activities and lifestyles, for which we often take for granted.

Watching a loved one battle a chronic and debilitating disease such as MS, is heartbreaking. Having been a witness of my dad’s steady decline over the years, I can attest to the devastating impacts MS can have on one’s life. In my dad’s case, he progressed from a cane, to a walker, and now bound to an electric wheelchair. He’s had to forfeit his career, marriage, and ultimately, his independence.

Through all of the hardship and devastation, he always manages to prevail. He handles adversity with grace and chooses to take a positive and humorous outlook on life despite the misfortune he endures. He NEVER lets MS Define him. His mantra has always been “you can do anything you set your mind to,” and he demonstrates that each and every day by never letting MS get the best of him.

Brawl For A Cause is a chance for me to raise money and awareness for The National MS Society,  a cause that is very close to my heart for the man that has made me who I am today. This one is for you Daddio!
