I first joined BvB Dallas in 2012 to take part in the fight against Alzheimer's. Since that time, this organization has raised over $5 MILLION DOLLARS!! 

If you haven't been directly affected by Alzheimer's Disease, chances are high that someone close to you has been affected. Alzheimer's Disease is the only top cause of death that has no cure or treatment plan.  We have made so much progress to find a cure, but a lack of funding to find a cure or support those affected will set back our efforts tremendously. 

Your donation will go towards supporting both research for a cure as well as providing much needed financial assistance to caregivers who support those affected by Alzheimer's disease.  Some examples of our previous beneficiaries are: 

UT Southwestern: This year, we are also supporting the next phase of a novel study at UT Southwestern to diagnose and treat Alzheimer’s disease. This study has shown that focused ultrasound can temporarily and safely open the blood-brain barrier to deliver therapeutic agents to treat Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers will now work to optimize the delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic agents to more accurately detect and treat the disease.

Senior Companion Program at The Senior Source:  Through the Senior Companion Program, volunteers, who themselves are older adults, are placed in the homes of frail elderly persons. The goal is to help keep older adults living independently in their own homes. Each companion provides an average of twenty hours of service each week and is placed in the home of one or two elderly clients who have multiple physical, emotional and/or mental health limitations. 

As always, I am raising money for this cause in honor of my grandmother Evelyn who passed away from complications of dementia in addition to my Great Aunt Marcella who is currently battling Alzheimer's disease.
