As a mother to 4 beautiful boys and a wife to a phenomenal husband, This disease has overtaken my life since 2021. After having my last child, I was taken by surprise when one day rashes began appearing, fevers started, loss of appetite and after weeks of losing hair and immobility, I lost over 35 lbs! My PCP unsure of what was going on sent me to one of the best facilities in the nation where I spent 13 days. Going through multiple biopsy’s, CT scans, MRIs, blood testing, checking for cancers etc…. After being discharged and many follow up appointments 1 year later diagnosed with…. Adult Onset Stills Disease! The Red Dragon! Caught by surprise, it’s a rare disease very new to Rheumatology. Unsure of a treatment plan, I have been on many trials of medications, injections, etc all while going through 6 Hospital stays, many flare ups minor AND major and eventually diagnosed with steroid induced diabetes due to long term steroid use! But i’m still fighting, i’m still a warrior and i will do all I can to fight this fight and bring awareness as much as possible! donating not only supports me and my walk, but thousands of men and women who are fighting the fight also while not having much support, resources or knowledge in the world!
