Chili for a Cure: Unite for Lucas

Get ready to bring the heat for a great cause! On Saturday, February 21 , 2026, Tin Roof BBQ will host Chili for a Cure: Unite for Lucas, bringing together community, family, and friends to support critical research for the very rare genetic syndrome Tatton Brown Rahman Syndrome (TBRS).

At the heart of this event is Lucas Richter, son of Kacee and Bobby and grandson to Tin Roof BBQ owners Ronnie and Nancy Webber. Lucas was diagnosed with TBRS at just 3 years old. This rare genetic condition affects only about 450 people worldwide, causing overgrowth, intellectual disabilities, and serious health risks. Lucas’ story reminds us all why research, awareness, and community support matter so deeply.

Enter the Cook-Off

Think your chili has what it takes? Register at Team for $100 and compete for the $500 Grand Prize (2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $100)!

Cooks can start arriving at 7:00 a.m. to set up and prepare their best chili recipe on-site.
Chili must be cooked/mixed onsite; cannot bring in premade chili (we will check ingredients)
Any type of chili is fine (red, green, beans, no beans - just cook your best!)
Each participant will have a 10x10 space for their tent, table, and cooking area. (you bring all of your materials)
Judging will crown 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners —but the real winners are the families supported through TBRS research.
Chili turn in (3 servings) will be promptly at 12PM. (anonymous turn in)
Judging Criteria: aroma, taste, texture, appearance, and aftertaste.
Scoring System: scoring system 1-10, where 10 is the highest score.
Comments: judges will write comments under each score to provide feedback.
