Volunteering with Hollywood Food Coalition (HoFoCo) for the past year or so has been such an enriching experience. The staff's dedication to ensuring meals are well-prepared and present in numerous options on a daily basis, regardless of circumstance, is heartwarming and admirable. Not to mention the gratitude and appreciation shown by the folks being served, who come from all walks of life and are a pleasure to interact with. All in all, HoFoCo has done a phenomenal job in fostering a supportive and jovial environment for not only its service recipients but volunteers and staff alike, making it a delightful experience to be a part of. I can firmly state that my experiences at HoFoCo have changed me for the better and furthered my communication and open-mindedness, among other skills, in ways that I wouldn’t have been able to transform if I simply remained within Westwood. - Dana
I’ve been working with Hollywood Food Coalition for about a year now and it’s honestly been an amazing experience with the motivating attitudes of the workers and the exciting atmosphere of the volunteer site. It makes me proud to be a part of a community that is dedicated to providing warm meals and health supplies for those in need. Being at UCLA, I feel that people are contained within this safety bubble that limits their perspectives on how adjacent communities could be struggling and I believe it’s best that we share each other’s struggles and work toward lessening these stressors and uplifting each other’s spirits. With my club, I’ve also coordinated a donation that consisted of supplies for the Summer that helped immensely in HoFoCo clients beating the heat and staying healthy. I wish more people could learn about and join in on the great work that Hollywood Food Coalition strives to accomplish! - Elaine
Being able to volunteer with Hollywood Food Coalition this past year has been a wonderful, fulfilling experience. I've gained a tremendous amount of respect for the staff who, rain or shine, never fails to provide warm meals for those that stop by during meal service. Their welcoming nature and genuine hospitality aligns with my views of how individuals should be treated and cared for. Folks who receive meals certainly plays a part in my positive experience with HoFoCo as they continuously express gratitude towards the organization's and volunteers' dedication to the community's well-being. - Helen
