As the CEO of the Y for nearly 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the tremendous impact our organization has on the community, serving individuals from infancy through senior years. In recent years, I’ve been especially impressed by the critical work of our Community Health Workers, who provide hope, resources, and guidance to our most vulnerable neighbors. At any given time, these four dedicated workers assist around 60 families facing homelessness or the risk of it, in partnership with local school districts and the Great Rivers United Way Hub. Their efforts connect families to employment, education, housing, healthcare, food, and other essentials, helping children find greater success in school. On Y Giving Day, we have the opportunity to raise funds to support their essential work. Please join me in recognizing and supporting these incredible individuals who are making a lasting difference in our community.
