I hope you will join me in supporting our Community Health Workers.  For 25 years I've had the pleasure to support our community through my work at the YMCA.  I could not be more proud to be part of this amazing organization.  

One amazing example of the work being done is that of our Community Health Workers.  Our Community Health Workers work directly with clients, mostly families, who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.  We also work closely with local school districts to identify families with chronically absent elementary school children.  Once connected our Community Health Worker becomes an advocate, educator, navigator and coordinator alongside families to empower and guide them through challenges and barriers.  Support looks like assisting with housing applications, navigating healthcare needs, coordinating registration for school or childcare, educating on health and safety topics, supporting non-English speaking families not only with translation but also with cultural understanding and/or barriers, and connecting families to various other community resources.
