Hello friends and potential donors!
Welcome to my individual fundraising page for Slant'd, a literary magazine dedicated to amplifying the multifaceted beauty of our AAPI community and giving voice to the historically voiceless.
The first time I heard about Slant'd was at the 2022 KAAN adoptee conference in Denver. The mainstage performance featured a speaker who read her piece aloud for all of us. I found myself nailed to my seat, trying not to cry because I couldn't believe the words I was hearing. It was like she had reached directly into the thoughts I keep caged behind barbed wire and dragged them out into a spotlight. Painful, paralyzing, liberating.
After mainstage was over, I approached and asked her where that piece had been published. Her answer? Slant'd magazine published her essay. Right then, I made a vow to myself that I would get involved somehow.
Fast forward two-ish years later, and I'm now working with Slant'd as an editor for the litmag — and so excited to share Issue 06 with everyone!
So now this is the part where I humbly ask you to donate what you can so that we can continue the work we're doing — which is so, so important. It's not just about representation; it's about opening up new opportunities for writers, cultivating a sense of belonging in our AAPI community, and taking ownership of the power of collective creativity.
