I joined Slant’d at the start of 2024 as a way to escape burnout from my 9-5 job as a book editor in the publishing industry and reignite my creative spark. And now it’s safe to say that serving as the Managing Editor for Slant’d lit mag has to be one of the highlight of my year! With every exciting new challenge that arose during the magazine-making process, I pleasantly surprised myself and I have Slant’d to thank for reminding me what I’m capable of. My work with our AMAZING editorial staff and story contributors helped me to rediscover purpose and passion—and for the first time in too long of a time, I feel proud of myself again!
I’ve made new friends who encourage, empower, and inspire me to be more vulnerable, creative, and genuine. And as an organization, we’re dedicated to sharing this energy widely with our whole AAPI community—whether it’s by providing an accessible space for stories to be told and heard or by developing programs where we can foster supportive, creative connections. Since Slant’d is a nonprofit, our capacity and the sustainability of this mission fully relies on your help!
