I’ve been a member of the Tool Library since moving to Baltimore. I started by checking out the occasional tool to fix something around the apartment or tinker (especially) during the pandemic. Then I took some classes and started building my woodworking skills. Now I’m a member of the Board of Directors.
The Tool Library is one of the most important resources in Baltimore. But it’s so much more than a shop that loans tools. It’s a space to learn practical skills. It’s a place to explore new hobbies and interests. And, most importantly, it’s a community of amazing volunteers, teachers, and makers—people who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and talents.
Homeowners can get the tools to make needed repairs without breaking the bank. Renters can take things into their own hands without having to rely on a landlord. And people who don’t have the luxury of expensive hobbies are able to access tools, skill-building classes, and workspaces (including a full woodshop and knife shop).
I am passionate about what the Tool Library means for the people of Baltimore—especially those who don’t otherwise have access. I hope that you’ll support us as we continue to grow and serve our community.
