Founded in 2003, Treasures is the first and only organization of its kind in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, where 90% of legal porn is filmed, manufactured and/or distributed. Our mission is to equip and empower women in the sex industry and survivors of trafficking to live healthy, flourishing lives and train others across the globe to do the same in their cities. To date, we have trained over 120 outreaches on six continents.
Today, there are more women employed by the sex industry than any other time in history, and 89% of women want to leave but see no way out. 70% of the females who are trafficked are trafficked into the commercial sex industry. This includes porn, strip clubs, and massage parlors.
Treasures provides care and support for victims of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. Our year-round support and care services are aimed to empower women to find freedom and to provide a pathway to care and self-efficacy.
Birthed out of our founder's, Harmony Dust, story of being exploited by her boyfriend (a.k.a pimp) and working in a strip club, the goal of Treasures' outreaches are to reach women who work in the sex industry with the message that they are “loved, valued and purposed.” The Treasures Outreach Team hand delivers pink gift bags with this message to over 170 strip clubs, sex clubs, STD testing centers, Juvenile Detention Centers and women's prisons.
