When Joseph was a baby he began having seizures immediately. When he was 7 months old he was referred to Dr. Darryl De Vivo a neurologist at Columbia Presbyterian. It was Dr. De Vivo who discovered this rare disease and Joseph was his first patient. He quickly went into a plan of action for Joe which stopped his constant seizures and for the first time gave our parents hope. Through his and the work of many doctors the Glut1 family was able to come together, learn from one another and know that we are not alone. Dr. De Vivo was Joseph’s doctor but more importantly he became family. This year he entered his well deserved retirement. Our family will be forever grateful to Dr. De Vivo. Please take a moment to watch a tribute video for our friend and doctor by clicking the link below. Thank you for supporting the Glut1 Deficiency Foundation. It is because of your generosity that we are able to continue Dr. De Vivo’s mission by furthering education, research and bring awareness to Glut1 Deficiency. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts❤️
