I became a scientist because I am fascinated by biology and how we can unlock its secrets. I’ve stayed in science because I’ve seen the amazing impact that innovative science can have on transforming people’s lives and their entire communities.
In September of this year, I am taking that commitment to new heights. I am joining a team of approx. 20 biotech executives who will trek to the top of the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise $1 million for Sickle Cell Disease. Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a life-altering blood disorder that affects millions worldwide with approx 300K babies born every year with severe forms of the disease.

To help combat this diseases’ impact, each of us biotech executives / trekkers have partnered with Sickle Forward and committed to raising $50K each to collectively raise $1M to expand treatment of individuals with SCD and to expand newborn screening – a demonstrated, effective way to lessen the devastating impact of this disease on individuals and communities.
As I embark on this trek, I invite you to join me as well. Let’s see what heights we can reach together and in service of science, health, and our global community.
