I will be climbing Kilimanjaro on behalf of BigHat Biosciences to raise funds for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) diagnosis and treatment. SCD affects millions, with the highest prevalence in sub-Saharan Africa. Many children go undiagnosed and lack access to basic treatment, leading to high mortality rates. While curative therapies have now been developed, they are not accessible to the vast majority of these patients. BigHat has developed a preclinical therapeutic to treat the cell adhesion that causes pain crises in children and adults with SCD that we hope will be more readily accessible. I'm excited to join an incredible group on this adventure and mission!
