My running journey began in 2017, with the catalyst for getting into the sport being my mom. Having previously run 5ks with both of my sisters she was eager for me to run one alongside her. From the first 5k, Chicago Bears 5k, I was hooked. Running became a way not only to test my physical fitness but mental toughness. I began training more, wanting to do 10ks, half marathons, and my ultimate goal of completing a marathon. In 2019, I successfully completed my first marathon at Disney World, running with my partner from day one, my mom. Joining us was my mom's best friend, Amy Loftus and her daughter Elizabeth. It was a bucket list moment since starting running back in 2017.
I am happy to be running in the 2025 Chicago Marathon and even more so to be raising awareness for those with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS). I first became aware of CdLS through my mom's best friend Amy, as her son, Eric, was born with CdLS. Throughout my running journey I've grown closer with Amy and her family, which is why I am proud to run the 2025 Chicago Marathon to raise awareness for CdLS.
