It is hard to really find a place to start and say this is where my story began, and why I am here today, a part of the 50 Mile March. The easiest place to begin is to introduce my service as a United States Marine from 2000-2008 as those years both gave and took from me…between deployments, grueling days, the physical demands on the body and mind, but ultimately I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It is a decision I have never regretted. The camaraderie is second to none, and I gained a life long family through the Marine Corps…even those I did not directly serve with.
In the years following my service, I struggled with PTSD and life in general in many ways, but I was blessed with the love of family and the life saving timing of my Veteran community coming into my life when I needed them the most…fellow Veterans who understood ME, and what I was experiencing. I was not alone. This turning point for me in 2015 awakened my drive and passion to give back to other Veterans needing a helping hand or listening ear, because sometimes that is all it takes. I have been a part of many Veteran assistance and support missions since that time and will continue to give back until I am physically unable.
I am grateful for the love and support I have been given, and I thank each of you for sharing this journey with me and helping me and other marchers supporting Veterans in their time of need!
