On August 24th-25th, I’ll be participating in the 50 Mile March from Lincoln to Omaha, Nebraska, to raise awareness and funds for veterans who face mental health challenges and homelessness.
Military service has been a cornerstone of my family's life for generations. My grandfather, Don McMullen, served in the Navy. My father, Tom Kunkel, proudly served as a Marine. Aunna’s father, Mike Hulsebusch, served in the Army, and my brother, Joe Kunkel, who has just been promoted to 2-star Major General, currently serves at the Pentagon in the Air Force. My oldest son, Anthony, is following in our footsteps as an Army Infantry 2nd Lieutenant at Fort Moore. Personally, I served in the Nebraska Army National Guard, attended basic training at Fort Benning, and was part of the 134th Infantry Regiment with C Company in Beatrice, NE.
Aunna and I are dedicated to supporting both current and former service members. We’re honored to walk alongside our cousin Lindy and her husband Matt Marchese, both 20-year Army veterans, in their third 50 Mile March.
How Can You Help? I have set a personal goal to raise $10,000 for this cause, and Aunna, myself, and our team at all Stonebrook Companies are committed to matching $10,000. This means your contribution will have double the impact, helping us raise a total of $20,000. Every penny will go towards supporting local organizations that provide essential services to veterans, such as housing, mental health care, and job training.
Join Us at Stonebrook! Please join us at our first stop at Stonebrook Exterior office on Saturday from 5:00-10:00 PM, with Marchers arriving at 6:00 PM. Your presence or support in any form—be it donations, kind words, or sharing this message—will make a big difference.
For those who can contribute at a higher level, I’d like to connect with you personally. I’ll be making phone calls throughout the March to discuss how we can work together to support our veterans.
Thank you for considering this cause. Together, with your support, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
