A few months ago, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and was told I need to wear a scoliosis brace for 18 hours a day. When I found out this news I was upset, scared and embarrassed. My mom heard about a non-profit organization called Higgy Bears that donates teddy bears to kids and teens with scoliosis. The day I was measured for my brace I came home to find a little teddy bear sitting on my bed with its own mini scoliosis brace. Having this bear that I now call Dolly brought me comfort especially in the very beginning when I wasn't quite ready to tell any of my friends. Higgy Bears does more than just donate teddy bears. Higgy Bears organizes support groups and also holds a yearly convention called Higgy Con where hundreds of kids and teens can come together to share stories and encourage one another. I am participating in a fundraiser for Higgy Bears and would really appreciate your help and support.
