Sung-Hyuk Park's Story

Get ready to be amazed! Our beloved Hillside music teacher is not only an award-winning music educator - he's also a piano virtuoso. And he's ready to tickle the ivories to help raise funds for MFEE and our Arts Open Hearts fund.

After 18 years of working as a music director at Hillside Gifted and Talented School, Mr. Park knows a thing or two about how music heals the soul, particularly for our young children.  He has worked with legions of students in chorus, the renowned Traveling Troupe, and  Play Production.  With his two long-time colleagues, Deborah McHugh and Megan Wills, Mr. Park has helped children express themselves on the stage and in the classroom.

Together, they have  helped our youngest thespians shine through stunning renditions of Broadway shows like Music Man, Peter Pan, Guys & Dolls Jr., High School Musical, The Wiz, Cinderella, The Big, Aladdin Jr., 42nd Street, and South Pacific (with Mrs. McHugh), and On the Town, Once Upon A Mattress, Anything Goes, The Boy Friend, Fame, Seussical, Newsies. and Annie.

Mr. Park's unique talent and infectious joy for teaching music to children has been recognized through his receipt of the Josh and Judy Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching and New Jersey State Teacher of the Year Award.  He is highly respected by his peers, greatly appreciated by parents of his pupils, and adored by his students. He studied piano with Dr. Douglas Humphreys at Eastman School of Music (M.M.) and with Dr. Min Kim at New Jersey City University (B.M.).

Sung-Hyuk Park takes great pride in teaching music to children; it is his passion. His family, however, is his bliss. He is thankful for having a loving wife, Heejung, and three beloved children, Jeffrey, Amy, and Abigail. Show Mr. Park some love with a donation to MFEE and the Arts Open Hearts fund on his behalf!
