Hello everyone! My name is Maya Mincak, I'm a sophomore at Bronxville High School, and I've been on the team for a little over a year.
I've been on countless sports teams throughout my life, but none have made me feel the way City Island Rowing does. From my first season on the water last spring to competing against some of the fastest crews in the country this fall at Head of the Charles, rowing has completely changed my perspective on commitment, teamwork, and dedication. In just one year, I've made incredible friends, and gained so much knowledge about both the sport and myself. My role as a coxswain may not be the most typical in the sporting world, but it has taught me that rowing is about so much more than just putting an oar in the water and moving a boat, it’s about strategy, leadership, and bringing out the best in my teammates.
On Sunday, March 2nd, my teammates and I will take on a 90-minute piece on the rowing machine (erg) for our Annual Capital Equipment Fundraiser. This event raises money for the equipment that allows us to train and compete at the highest level. This year, we are fundraising for our Hudson USP racing shells, some of the best boats available, which I've also had the privilege to practice and race in. In addition, we are purchasing a brand-new dock to improve access to the water and create a more efficient launching/docking process.
These investments are essential to our success, and every donation helps us keep improving and stay competitive. We truly appreciate your support!
Please note that City Island Rowing is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and 100% of your donation is fully tax-deductible.
