Hi! My name is Scarlet. I am currently a junior at Hunter College High School, and rowing is a huge part of my life!
When I was younger, I used to watch rowers on the River Thames every day, amazed at their strength, precision, and the focus it took to achieve such graceful and intense power. I’ve always been drawn to the combination of teamwork, discipline, and endurance that defines rowing, and now, being part of City Island Rowing, I’ve found all of that and more!
Rowing with CIR has not only given me the chance to challenge myself physically, but it’s also taught me life lessons I will carry with me forever -- lessons of perseverance, commitment, and the importance of being a supportive teammate. The community at City Island is like no other, and I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a competitive team where everyone pushes each other to be their best.
On Sunday, March 2nd, I’ll be joining my team for an intense endurance test -- the Ergathon -- to raise funds for our program. This will be a challenging workout, but it’s all for a great cause, and I’ll be thinking about the support from all of you to keep me going.
Your donation will go directly toward the boats, oars, and other essentials that allow us to perform at the highest level. Every bit helps, and no contribution is too small!
Thank you so much for supporting me! I’m so grateful for each of you, and I’m looking forward to giving it my all.
Go City! 🩵🩷
