Julie Cottrill's Story

I’m a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed in 2021, and my journey has been one of resilience, strength, and hope. I volunteer with survivingbreastcancer.org, an incredible organization that provides a sanctuary of strength, compassion, and empowerment for those of us going through breast cancer. Living in a rural area like West Virginia, I often find it challenging to find local support, so this community is especially meaningful to me. Friends and I formed a team and participated in last year’s “Take a Hike” event at Watersmith State Park, and I’m excited to announce this year’s location soon. I would love to see several teams participating throughout the state. The hike is more of a walk for my team and me, and I encourage everyone to join us or consider donating any amount, as every little bit helps. All proceeds support those affected by breast cancer from diagnosis and beyond.
