Julie Alleyne's Story

I want to see racial justice bring an end to housing segregation, so all who want the same opportunities I have enjoyed in my life can do so. The state of Connecticut continues to perpetuate this racial inequity through the lack of affordable housing in the suburbs and by concentrating it in the major cities throughout our state. We can and should do better to diversify our communities. I was born to immigrant parents who first settled in Hartford when I was born, but had the ability to move out to the suburbs ultimately settling in Glastonbury to ensure their children had abundant opportunities based on a good education and community. I hope you will join me in financially supporting OCA’s important work on this issue and by joining our coalition.
