Matt Goodson's Story

Thank you for taking the time to read my page and also read about this great cause!

From the age of 7, golf has been an important part of my life. I grew up working at golf courses starting at the age of 14, and almost 20 years later I am still in the golf business with the same passion as I had on day 1. It means a lot for me to use my passion for the game of golf to donate to two excellent cause. Of the donations raised from playing 100 holes, 50% of my proceeds will go to PGA Reach Wisconsin and 50% will go to the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation.

PGA Reach is the philanthropic arm of the Wisconsin PGA Section and focuses on growing the game. It includes programs for junior golf, the PGA Hope program which provides adaptive golf programs for military veterans and PGA WORKS Fellowship which focuses on increasing diversity within the game of golf. For more information on PGA Reach, please click the following link: https://www.pgareach.org/wisco...

My charity of choice is the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation. Mental health is a very important cause to me and foundations like the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation have had a significant impact on my life. For more information about the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation, please click on the following link: https://rogersbhfoundation.org...

As for the 100 holes, I will be playing at Blue Mound Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, June 7th. Thank you again for taking the time to read my page and please join me in donating to these wonderful causes.

Story

WHAT: 100-Year Anniversary Celebration of the Wisconsin Section of the PGA

WHY: To celebrate the Wisconsin PGA's past 100 years, and to raise money to support PGA REACH Wisconsin and the different branches it supports -- youth, military, and inclusion. Through programs such as PGA HOPE, PGA Junior League, PGA WORKS and the PGA Junior Foundation Scholarship Program, we are able to impact lives everywhere through the game of golf.

PGA HOPE: The flagship military program of PGA REACH, that introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. This program introduces the game of golf through a 6-8 week developmental curriculum taught by PGA Professionals who are trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. This is at no cost to the Veterans. Learn more at www.pgareach.org/services/military.

PGA Junior League: PGA Junior League brings family and friends together around fun, team golf experiences with expert coaching from PGA and LPGA Professionals. The goal of this program is to be accessible to all kids interested in golf ages 7-17. There are also a variety of scholarship opportunities through PGA Junior League to help students reach their academic goals. Learn more at www.pgareach.org/services/youth

PGA WORKS: PGA WORKS is a strategic initiative designed to diversify the golf industry's workforce. PGA WORKS leverages fellowships, scholarships, career exploration events, and the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship to inspire and engage talent from diverse backgrounds to pursue key employment positions across the golf industry. Learn more at www.pgareach.org/pgaworks.

Scholarships: The Wisconsin Junior Foundation Scholarship Program distributed $40,000 in 2021. Since its inception, it has provided students with $300,000 to help them achieve their academic goals. This year we anticipate awarding $50,000 or more in scholarships.Learn more at www.wiscjuniorgolf.com/scholarships.
