I understand the importance of food - sustenance yes, but also community. As some know, for 3 years I ran a nationwide nonprofit focused on food insecurity; I met many who struggle with food and who can use our help to get back on their feet.
Food insecurity impacts every county (& parish) in the US. 1 in 7 people, including 1 in 5 children, experience food insecurity in the United States - and the number of people who don't know where they will find their next meal increased in 2023. For us as a nation, this is a travesty.
If you, like me, find this unacceptable, join in as we do something to help feed those in need. Until there are policy decisions at a national or global level, we have to address this at the individual level.
The 5th Annual Knit for Food Knit-a-thon is Saturday, April 5, 2025. It’s 12 hours of knitting to raise money and awareness as we address the crisis of hunger and food insecurity in our midst. 100% of the funds raised will be split equally between Feeding America, No Kid Hungry, World Central Kitchen, and Meals on Wheels.
Knit for Food Knit-a-thon is a Pass Through Entity: 100% of funds raised are donated.
