Emilie founded the Merit Nonprofit Professional Development Platform (Nonprofit Help Center) in 2018 after working in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. She holds a masters in nonprofit management and a doctoral degree in organizational and leadership psychology, and her doctoral dissertation focused on psychological factors related to donor behavior. In 2023 she published the two-volume set, "Nonprofit Capacity in a Nutshell" and in early 2024 published "Mission Statement Magic: Finding your purposeful path to a life well-lived."
In her work with the Nonprofit Help Center team, Emilie deeply engages in capacity assessment, process consultation, leadership coaching, and intervention design. In 2021, NHC launched the Merit® Nonprofit Professional Development platform, an online capacity-building microlearning experience that is designed just for nonprofit teams, which now supports over 300 nonprofits (and the thousands of people who work at them) nationwide. In 2023, the NHC formalized its partnership with Auburn University in offering the Certificate in Nonprofit Capacity Building, and also launched a just-for-boards course, Nonprofit Board Member Basics.
Emilie is an avid traveler, reader, and believer in the power of people to make great things happen.
