Frequently asked questions
The Givebutter app is available to download in the Apple App Store for iOS devices and in Google Play for Android devices.
Like all Givebutter features, the Givebutter app is completely free to download and use. An industry-low platform fee of 1% does apply to all transactions processed through the app, and standard processing fees also apply. Donors can choose to cover these fees for you, which 95% of Givebutter donors do when asked!
You can purchase a card reader for $99. Please note that card readers are non-refundable. We want you to have the best experience possible, so if you do encounter any issues with your device, please reach out to our support team.
The Givebutter app is currently only compatible with the Stripe Reader M2, which can be purchased here. If you already own one of these card readers, you can connect it to the Givebutter app.
You must process all donations collected through the Givebutter app through the dedicated card reader or Tap to Pay.
Tap to Pay is available on iPhone XS or later (running iOS 16.0 or later) and Android devices and tablets (Android 11 or later, with enabled NFC reader). Tap to Pay is not currently supported on iPad (please use a card reader to process payments instead) or any device without an NFC reader.
You cannot have both enabled at the same time. Tap to Pay must be disabled to pair with a card reader. Enabling Tap to Pay will disconnect any paired readers.
