Kyson Bunthuwong is an explorer of connections, design thinker, and a gritty optimist in the face of challenges. Previously, he was Senior Director at CCS Fundraising, a consulting and management firm that partners with nonprofit organizations across a multitude of sectors on large-scale campaigns and transformative fundraising projects. He got his start in the social impact field right after college when he co-founded a startup venture aimed at tackling Malawi’s illegal charcoal trade through a sustainable bamboo energy alternative. In pursuit of greater impact, this led him to development and marketing roles for various award-winning organizations and international poverty alleviation NGOs—Taproot Foundation, Butler Koshland Fellowships, Village Enterprise, and myAgro. As a former elite gymnast and co-captain of the UC Berkeley team, Kyson is now comfortably retired in Oakland and enjoys low-key activities like oil painting, gardening, and hikes with his husband and rescue pup.
