Introducing the easiest way to accept DAF donations

The fastest-growing vehicle of philanthropy is finally accessible to nonprofits. That's right! We're thrilled to announce that we've just launched Givebutter’s donor-advised fund (DAF) donate button—the very first of its kind to hit the market. ✨

Donors can now easily access their donor-advised funds and recommend a nonprofit for a donation through a seamless three-click donation experience—streamlining the granting experience for every involved.

The best part? You can add a DAF donate button to any Givebutter donation form, fundraising page, fundraising event, or embeddable widget directly on your website.

Traditionally, making a distribution from a donor-advised fund has been a very manual and offline process. Offering DAFs as a payment option allows us to open up new funding avenues for nonprofits and make more donors aware that DAFs are a beneficial way to support organizations they’re passionate about. We’re looking forward to connecting donors and nonprofits with our DAF payment option.

This latest product launch is a continuation of our mission to power the next billion changemakers, and we can’t wait to see how organizations leverage this payment method to take their fundraising efforts to new heights in the new year. 🚀

Why DAFs? Why now?

DAFs are donor-advised funds, and they're exploding in popularity. In fact, Fidelity Charitable has seen the number of donors opening donor-advised funds nearly triple over the past decade. Experts are projecting more than $50B in donations through DAFs in 2022 after a record-breaking year for DAF donations in 2021, which means that approximately 10% of all donations are coming through DAFs

But despite this rapid growth in adoption, donating via a donor-advised fund is a lengthy and (sometimes) deterring process for donors. When donors find a nonprofit they want to donate to, they have to leave the nonprofit’s website, sign in to their DAF portal, get in touch with their DAF provider, and inform them that they’d like to make a charitable contribution.

Fortunately, this is all about to change thanks to our new tool. 😎

Our cutting-edge DAF donate button—powered by a native integration between Givebutter and Chariot—enables charities to accept payments from the $234B sitting in donor-advised funds in just three clicks.

By adding the DAFpay button to any Givebutter giving form, nonprofits can allow donors to access their DAFs instantly right in the donation flow. All donors need to do is select their DAF provider, log in to their DAF account, and submit their donation request. Smooth as butter. 🧈

Keep track of where your DAF gift is every step of the way with up-to-date information in your Givebutter dashboard. You’ll be able to see not just when a donor has initiated a DAF grant to your organization, but also when the grant has been approved, the money has been sent, or the funds have been received.

Givebutter’s DAF donation button currently integrates with the most popular DAF providers, including Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, National Philanthropic Trust, and Charityvest. Several leading nonprofit organizations—such as Metro YMCA of the Oranges, B'nai Jeshurun, Imagine Housing, Blueprint 58, Inc., and Facing Homelessness—have already successfully implemented Givebutter’s DAF donate button into their fundraising strategy.
